Philicia Clay is from the Cree/Assiniboine Nation of the Mosquito Grizzley Bears Head Lean Man First Nations, that is located south of the Battlefords in Saskatchewan. Her traditional name is “Rising Thunder Bird Woman”. She is currently a 2nd year Business student, and she will receive her Business Diploma through Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies in Saskatoon. Philicia has always strongly encouraged the younger generation to go back to school because her past elders have always said, " Our children are our future" and "Our young people are our future leaders." She has worked for her Nation and it is here that she witnessed many discrepancies, corruption and unethical behaviour. Philicia knew that this was not right. She is a staunch advocate of treaty rights: "As long as the sun shines, grass grows and the rivers flow".
